Resumen En este estudio se evalua la eficiencia relativa de las Corporaciones Autono-mas Regionales (CAR) colombianas utilizando la funcion de distancia direccional dentro de la estructura de analisis envolvente de datos, que permite la incorporacion de salidas deseadas y no deseadas. La informa-cion de las entradas y salidas se obtuvo de las paginas institucionales de cada una de las CAR y de los reportes del Sistema Nacional para la Prevencion y Atencion de Desastres de Colombia. Se determino que tan solo el 18,75% de las 32 CAR evaluadas son completa-mente eficientes y que el promedio de ineficiencia es del orden del 60 %. Se espera que los resultados obtenidos sirvan para orientar el mejoramiento de la eficiencia en la utilizacion de los re-cursos y para la identificacion de las CAR que pueden servir de referentes. Abstract This paper evaluates the relative ef-ficiency of the Colombian Regional Autonomous Corporations (CAR) using the directional distance func-tion within the structure of data en-velopment analysis, which allows for the incorporation of desirable and undesirable outputs. The input and output information was gathered from the institutional sites of each CAR and from the reports of the National System for the Prevention and Atten-tion of Disasters in Colombia. It was determined that only 18.75% of the 32 evaluated CARs are completely efficient and that the inefficiency av-erage is close to 60%. We hope that the obtained results will be of use in guiding the increase in efficiency in the utilization of resources and for the identification of those CARs that could set an example for the rest.
