The article discusses the strategic characterization of the management of ICTs [Information and Communication Technologies] carried out in 20 companies based in the Sugamuxi valley in the department of Boyaca, Colombia. The method of study used in the research was descriptive-explicative. As a statistical technique, we worked with descriptive analysis (frequencies and contingency tables) for the purpose of finding significant variables and their impact on the strategic management of the companies being reviewed. The instrument used for collecting information from the company managers was a structured survey based on the model of the National Institute of Statistics of Chile (Spanish acronym: INE), and the Veracruzana University of Mexico. The census was used for the sample design. Regarding the research, it can be affirmed that the companies partially apply strategic planning; likewise, the management model implemented obeys traditional models. On the other hand, it was identified that there is an average implementation of human resources policies, the majority of which are in the stage of quality certification processes.
