This article explains how weblogs have changed the role of Venezuelan journalists. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, on-line s urveys and a descriptive register, the motivations that impel the Venezuelan communicators to create their blogs, their activities, the uses and efforts they have develope d to become digitally competent are studied. Results indicate that journalists communic ating in the blogosphere express the need for autonomy and initiative as blog authors. R esults also show that their use of interactive multimedia tools is minimal and limited by deficiencies in their digital training.
