RECONSTRUCCION DE LA HISTORIA PALEOTERMAL DE LA SUBCUENCA DE LA BAJAGUAJIRA, COLOMBIA La reconstruccion de la historia paleotermal de la Subcuenca de la Baja Guajira se realizo empleando tres metodos: 1) Calculo del gradiente geotermico y flujo de calor actuales en la Subcuenca de la Baja Guajira, 2)reflectancia de vitrinita, y 3) huellas de fision en apatitos y zircones.Los nuevos analisis de huellas de fision y de reflectancia de vitrinita, permitieron identificar cuatro eventos termales con las siguientes caracteristicas: El evento termal mas antiguo se presento en el Cretacico Superiorentre 95 y 65 Ma, el segundo evento termal se presento en el Eoceno superior entre 40 a 35 Ma, el tercer evento termal ocurrio en el Mioceno inferior a medio entre 22 a 15 Ma. El cuarto y ultimo evento termal tuvo lugar en el Mioceno superior entre 10 y 5 Ma. Los eventos de enfriamiento coinciden con cuatro discordancias previamente identificadas: 1) la discordancia al tope de la Formacion Guaralamai del Cretacico Superior, 2) la discordancia a la base de la Formacion Siamanaen el Eoceno superior, 3) la discordancia al tope de la Formacion Siamana en el Mioceno inferior y medio, y 4)la discordancia al tope de la Formacion Castilletes en el Mioceno superior. The paleothermal history of the Coger Guajira Sub-basin was achieved using three methods: 1) calculation of the presents geothermal gradient and heat flow, 2) vitrinite reflectance and, 3) fission track analysis on apatites and zircon grains. New analytical data of vitrinite reflectance and fission tracks allowed identifying four termal events with the following features: The oldest termal event took place during the Late Cretaceous between 95 and 65 Ma. The second termal event occurred during the late Eocene between 40 and 35 Ma. The third termal event occurred in the Early and Middle Miocene between 22 and 15 Ma. The fourth and last termal event took place in the LateMiocene between 10 and 5 Ma.The cooling events match with four unconformities previously identified: 1) the Late cretaceous unconformityat the top of the Guaralamai Formation, 2) The Late Eocene unconformity at the base of the Siamana Formation,3) The Early to Middle Miocene unconformity on the top of the Siamana Formation, and 4) The Late Miocene unconformity on the top of the Castilletes Formation.
