EnglishAccording to early modern philosophy, medieval thought has to be characterized as monolytic and obscure. Against this affirmation, it will be argued that philosophically as well as culturally, the Middle Ages in the Christian West showed a great deal of interest in philosophical developments achieved by islamic and jewish thinkers. The fact that some modern philophers have —maybe intentionally— obscured the cultural diversity in medieval philosophical thought, led up to our present days to a distorted view of western philosophy and its history.
