El origen de la granjeria de las perlas del Rio de la Hacha se remonta a la primera mitad del siglo XVI. En ese entonces, la extraccion de las ostras estuvo en manos de esclavos indigenas. A mediados del siglo XVII se incremento la utilizacion masiva de esclavos africanos. Estos esclavos emplearon mecanismos de resistencia frente a las condiciones oprobiosas de su estado: desde manifestaciones pasivas de resistencia hasta expresiones violentas de rebeldia. ABSTRACT The origins of pearl extraction in Rio dela Hacha dates back to the first half of the Sixteenth century. At that time, pearl extractionwas in hands of Indian slaves. The use of massive quantities of African slaves increased by the middle of the Seventeenth century. These slaves had several ways to resist the opprobrious conditions of their state from passive manifestations of resistance to violent rebelliousness expressions.
