The use of prospective studies, technology watch an d competitive intelligence is a basic tool to reduc e the levels of uncertainty and risk that the effect of globaliz ation brings and allows addressing optimally techno logical development policies. Although addressed, in general, technological prospective studies conducted in C olombia, is studied, as a case, the prospective exercise dai ry chain and study the influence this has had on th e further development of the productive sector. We designed an instrument that allowed, for the field, lifting r eliable information sector under study and provide a tool t hat will be used in similar studies of other chains . The analysis of the results showed, for the case study, how tech nology foresight prospective studies conducted in C olombia have been used in the decision-making guidance and policy research, development and innovation.
