This country (Colombia) is in need of establishing dialogues among the various academic and non-academic communities, with the intention of understanding other forms of objectivation of mathematical knowledge, with due respect for the knowledges constructed by those communities. Thus, the objective of this article is to present some ways of understanding mathematics education in a sociocultural perspective, and to exemplify them.
