This paper analyzes the interactions and influence the international scene has had on the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia People's Army (FARC-EP). The investigation stems from the finding of a lack of scholarly work in Colombia and Latin America to explore, analyze or propose a scientific categorization of the FARC-EP, from theories of international relations. In the brief seeks to follow a systematic and consistent reading and interpreting the FARC-EP did the international scene, in two key moments: the first during the development of the Cold War (1983-1991), and the second at the end of it (1991-2010). In this sense, it seeks to determine how this reading of the international scene directly influenced the evolution of their political and military behaviors, ie how changes in the international arena over communism led to his Marxist-Leninist cold War to the Bolivarian socialism of the XXI Century.
