Propuesta metodológica para la generación de mapas de inundación y clasificación de zonas de amenaza. caso de estudio en la parte baja del río las ceibas (neiva- huila)
One of the common problems that water planners have to deal with is the development of flood hazard maps from point precipitation data. This article presents the development of a methodology for the production of this type of maps, using a linked strategy between the HEC-GeoHMS-HEC-HMS hydrological modeling system and the HEC-GeoRAS-HEC-RAS river analysis system, all shareware applications developed by the United States Corps of Engineers. The proposed methodology is applied in Las Ceibas river basin, with an area of around 297 km 2 . This basin experiences large floods, which impact the lower part of Las Ceibas river, close to its confluence with the Magdalena river. In the analysis, real storms are used for the calibration of the HEC-HMS model and synthetic storms are used for the generation of flood scenarios, which are analyzed using the unsteady flow condition in the HEC-RAS hydraulic model. Results show that the adequate, systematic and responsible use of geographic information system tools combined with the application of linked hydrological and hydraulic models, adequately calibrated and validated, gives decision-makers important and timely information for the implementation of structural and non-structural measurements which aim to mitigate the impact of flood events on the population.
