RESUMEN Integrando las ciencias basicas con las clinicas y empleando la herramienta pedagogica del Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas, presentamos un caso de un paciente con tetanos atendido en el Hospital Universitario de Santander. Consideramos que mediante esta estrategia el estudiante de pregrado, el medico general, el estudiante de posgrado y todos los interesados en el area de la salud encontraran una informacion detallada y actualizada sobre temible enfermedad, desde sus mecanismos moleculares hasta su dramatica expresion clinica, pasando por un correcto manejo terapeutico y resaltando finalmente la importancia de su prevencion inmunologica. ABSTRACT Integrating basic sciences with clinics and using pedagogic tools of the Based Learning Problem, we present a case of a patient with tetanus attended at the Universitary Hospital of Santander. We consider this strategy let to the pre-graduate student, the general physician, the post-graduate student and all the interested in the health field the possibility to find a detailed and up-to-date information about this serious disease, since its molecular mechanisms until its dramatic clinical expression, passing by its adequate therapeutic management and finally standing up the importance of its immunologic prevention.
