This article endeavors to discuss the construction, representation, and some of the conceptions that aim to a philosophical explanation of the problem of the “mind”. The author points to some of the concepts elaborated by philosophers in t he t radition, from Descartes to the la nguage theorists, to show the “existence” of the mind, or to explain how it functions, what it contains, what kind of relations are needed for it to “act”. Some of the main topics dealt with in this p aper a re k ey is sues in the e xplanation of m ind's function, like a sking whether reality is constructed or whether it helps us construct our thoughts; the question of duality; and the language as a creative element.
