A detailed study of the colombian specimens of Panopsis allows to confirm the status of P. suaveolens, P. polystachya, P. sessilifolia, P. ferruginea, P. yolombo, P. rubescens and P. rubescens var. simulans; in addition, P. rubra was reduced to the synonymy and three new taxa: P. antioquensis, P. lozanoi and P. hernandezii are described. A diagnostic key to the genus in Colombia is given. Palynological and bromatological analises of some species are included.
