This taxonomic revision for Colombian Iridaceaeincludes the family, genera and speciesmorphological descriptions. A geographic distribution and elevational range analysis for thespecies, a traditional key for genera and species, and a synoptic key for Sisyrinchiumspecies areincluded. Twenty-four species and 10 genera were found, two of them are naturalized (Crocosmia xcrocosmiifloray Tigridia pavonia), four are new reports for Colombia (Eleutherine bulbosa, Orthrosanthus acorifolius, O. monadelphusy Sisyrinchium mandonii), four are considered, endemic with a restricteddistribution (Cipura sp. nov.?, Cypella sp. nov.?, Hesperoxiphium huilensey Libertia colombiana) and two perhapsare new species (Cipura sp. nov.?, Cypella sp. nov.?).Most of the species are distributed along the Andean(ca. 80%) and Caribe (ca. 42%), regions while in the Pacific region the family is poorly represented(ca. 4%). The richest subregions are “Altiplano Cundiboyacense”, the “Macizo Antioqueno”, the“Montana Santandereana”, the “Vertiente Oriental Andina”, the “Vertiente Caucana”, and the“Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta”. On the other hand, despite the Iridaceae species grow from sealevel to the 4500 m altitude, the greatest concentration is between 2400 and 3600m altitude, whereOrthrosanthusand Sisyrinchiumare very rich. Comparisons within regions show that Colombia is notrich in Iridaceae, but the Colombian paramos are richer than other neotropical paramos.
