The objective of this research was to determine the familiarity of the LI-SRT (SRT Iberian lists) for assessing speech discrimination in children of 3 to 5 years belonging to high, medium and low class stratas of the Barranquilla city, using an instrument (33) which allows persons to assess the familiarity of words and terms covering size, color use, conventionality and related word-picture of the images that make up the lists designed and facilitated by the research entitled Validity and Reliability of the LI-SRT in children Bogota, ages 3 to 5 years on the Iberoamericana University Corporation Bogota. This research discovered a strong association between all data with a P<0.0001, demonstrating the congruency in which the instrument could be used for an evaluation to determine if the word /ponque/ was unfamiliar to children from these three social class levels.Once the analysis of information was compiled for each child, it was found that there existed similarities in the ten images not recognized during the pretest, independent of social class. These findings are valid only for a specific population; for the objective of obtaining generalizable conclusionsan evaluation of a greater number of children is recommended.
