EVALUACIÓN DEL PATRÓN DE CONDUCTA TIPO C Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA COGNICIÓN HACIA LA ENFERMEDAD EN PACIENTES COLOSTOMIZADOS CON DIAGNÓSTICO DE CÁNCER COLORRECTAL
The aim of the following study was to evaluate the dimensions of the type C behavior pattern, and its relation with the cognition towards disease, in 58 diagnosed colostomized patients with colorectal cancer, of both sexes, 6 months after the surgical treatment. As measurement instruments were used three of the scales of the Questionnaire of Type C Behavior Pattern (Lopez Martinez, Ramirez Maestre, Esteve Zarazaga & Anarte, 2002) and the Questionnaire of Cognition towards disease (ICQ), adapted from the Dutch version by Evers et al. (2001). The reliability of both questionnaires, from the calculation of alpha coefficient, throws satisfactory results in both cases. The results show that a clear relation between the answers to both instruments exists. Concretely, elevated scores in Rationality are associated to a greater capacity on the part of the patients to adapt to their disease; contrary, scores elevated in Understanding and Emotional Repression are associated to greater difficulties in order to accept the health state.
