This paper presents the progress of a doctoral thesis research, with an approach to the state of the art research in science education related to the role of context in teaching physics. In particular, there is a discussion about the possibilities and implications of including didactic historical context and the internal and external professional context in the teaching of science, particularly in physics, as an alternative to foster learning relevant and meaningful changes.
