El ensayo expone los distintos sentidos que, a lo largo de la historia, tiene la nocion de nacion, razon por la cual historiadores e investigadores del tema plantean diversas explicaciones sobre la construccion de la nacion colombiana. En este documento se asume la nacion como una construccion historico-politico-cultural; por eso, si bien es cierto desde tiempos coloniales se encuentran elementos que la conforman, la connotacion politica y cultural que hoy tiene consolidada con unos acontecimientos ocurridos hacia los anos 80’ del siglo XIX, tales como la instalacion de una serie de dispositivos que desde el ambito politico se crearon y consignaron en la Constitucion de 1886, dispositivos que, al instalarse en la sociedad, aportaron a la configuracion de valores simbolicos y culturales que hoy hacen parte de los individuos que se imaginan miembros de la nacion colombiana. ABSTRACT This article explores the different senses in which, historically, historians and investigators have offered diverse explanations on the construction of the Colombian nation. In this document the nation is assumed to be an historic construct, both political and cultural. Therefore, though there are certain colonial elements from times past,the cultural and political connotations of today are a consolidation of events that occurred mainly in the 1880 s -such as the installation of a series of devices created by the political environment and consigned to the Constitution, which, upon being introduced to society, contributed to the configuration of cultural and symbolic values that are today a part of those individuals that see themsleves as members of the Colombian nation.
