Traditionally, relationships between higher-education institutions and schools have been characterized by vagueness and lack of precision concerning goals and projects; which has given rise to weak links and a gradual distance between these institutions: this situation needs to be revised. This paper aims at analyzing, discussing and conceptualizing, on a theoretical epistemological basis, some issues related to learning communities as a strategy for improving interaction between university and school. In that regard, Student Teaching Practice and Community Service are proposed as possible scenarios to promote learning communities directed by social principles, reciprocity, otherness, and exchange, and also to strengthen such relationship.
