Para los estudiosos de los fenomenos artisticos en Colombia, y particularmente en el departamento de Boyaca, es muy importante analizar aquellos rasgos, tanto comunes como diferentes, de la obra artistica de los escultores boyacenses –considerados nacionalistas– nacidos en el periodo de la transicion entre los siglos XIX y XX, ya que su trascendencia artistica entre los anos 1930 y 1940 permite vislumbrar aquellos primeros pasos hacia el arte moderno en Colombia. Abstract To the scholars dedicated to the artistic phenomena in Colombia, and mainly those in the Boyaca Department, it is very important to analyze the characteristics, both common and different ones, of the regional sculptors’ artistic works –considered as nationalists– born in the transition between the XIX and the XX centuries, due to their artistic importance during the years 1930 and 1940, which allow anyone to foresee the first steps toward modern art in Colombia.
