The effect of the two tractor wheel arrangements-double field wheel/single furrow wheel (double Re/single RS) and single field wheel/single furrow wheel (single RC/single RS,) on the effective field capacity in ploughing, was studied in order to prove that the arrangement double RC/single RS provides less costs per hectarea and greater effective field capacity. The field trials were carried out in eigth plots of 3750 m2 each one, employing two treatments (tractor wheel arrangements) and four replications. The tractor wheel arrangement double RC/single RS showed the greatest effective field capacity and the lowest costs per hectarea in comparison with the arrangement single RC/single RS.
