This article is the result of the analysis the authors conducted on the role of education as a tool through which favorable oral health practices can be promoted in order to improve the quality of life of the populations. In this context, the school is an appropriate space to develop promotional of oral health programs, where the education community should actively participate because learning during early childhood is the most effective time to develop healthy practices that will endure throughout an individual’s lifespan. The authors purpose that the academy should be preparing health professionals who are able to understand health dynamics as a “complex adaptive system” with the purpose to design and implement health promotion strategies, where education is the articulator of the interventions.
