El presente articulo tiene como tematica principal, el conflicto de genero y el machismo en la ciudad de Cartagena entre 1940-1950. La religion catolica y la familia, han sido focos de propagacion e institucionalizacion de este fenomeno sexista, llegando a relegar a la mujer a las actividades domesticas, y a una funcion reproductiva, que explican en gran medida el porque de la prostitucion femenina. Asimismo, se realizara una relacion sintetica con el concepto de poder estudiado por Michel Foucault, y sus incidencias en la actividad sexual de la prostitucion, presentando al periodo colonial como el eje de los antecedentes de esta tematica. PALABRAS CLAVES Prostitucion, prostituta, genero, machismo, poder. ABSTRACT This article’s main topic is gender conflict and the entrenched sexism in the city of Cartagena between 1940 and 1950. Both Catholic religion and family have served as focal points from which the sexist phenomenom has institutionalized and spread out, relegating women to house work and to reproduction. This explains to a great extent, female prostitution. On the other hand, a synthetic relationship will be established with Foucault`s concept of power, arguing about its incidence in prostitution`s sexual activity.
