In Colombia, when we think about art re- search, we usually depend on models and methodologies that do not agree with the art’s true nature. In fact, although it promotes art education at different educational levels, the country has become a major international place for the confrontation of art. Art, as such, is not among the main lines of research outlined by Colciencias. When talking about art, especially from the academy, it is advisable to distinguish three main fields: artistic creation, artistic pedagogy and artistic research. Research in art is, as in any other branch of the knowledge, supposed to create new findings, using methods and techniques related to science and everyday life. Preliminarily, artistic research can be classified into three main orders: artistic research for scientific purposes, artistic research for the purpose of artistic creation, and artistic research for educational purposes.
