Purpose: to study the current perception of the Speech Therapy community about post-gradual development and promotion in Colombia. The disciplinary growth demands the insistent research of the studies that guarantee every individual the acquisition of knowledge linked to the professional and scientific exercise. Has Speech Therapy responded in Colombia to the post-gradual demand which enables professionals in their disciplinary areas? Method: the study is sent out to a “documental treatment” with historical correlation purposes the as a mediator process for the analysis, diagnosis of the projection and transformation of Speech Therapy. Result: the Speech Therapy population qualifies as insufficient the post-gradual formation in Colombia. The options are limited; they are very few the post-gradual fields that Speech Therapy in Colombia counts on, demanding a professional to just delve into them, or in the worst of the cases to leave the country in search for their academic goals. Conclusion: the labor observatory clearly proposes that a specialist professional is better located as far as the salary level is concerned in comparison with undergraduate Speech Therapists. However, it was stipulated more than a decade ago and it has not been consummated as of yet. The projections must be sustained in Higher Education institutions, responsible for the academic formation and practice: Universities should refute the tendency of the statistics.
