The objective of the present investigation was to determine the location of Phytophthora capsici in pepper seed. Seeds from pepper fruits infected with P. capsici were collected under field conditions. A group of those seeds were plated on culture media tomato-agar and another one was prepared for analysis by observation under the scanning electron microscope. P. capsici was isolated from seeds obtained from infected fruit. Through the scanning electron microscope, the fungus was observed to infect the seed coat, endosperm and embryo; the fungus was found only as mycelium in the endosperm and embryo; both tissues were the most affected.
