Ground water samples from Bogota plateau were processed for Carbon-14 dating by the benzene synthesis method. Ground water age indicates that infiltration took place thousands of years ago excepting water abstracted from wells located near the recharge area. Results were used to calculate the infiltration rate by means of various mathematical models, reaching values in the order of few mm per year, which indicates that recharge amount is negligible as to be taken into consideration in the hydrological balance. This values corroborate the assumption made on the basisof hydrological information, which in fact leads to the conclusion that the hydrogeological basin not affluent not effluent.
