Peonias shallow lagoon is an edge lagoon watershed at the Tablazo Bay at the north of Maracaibo city at the border of Mara council, its dimensions are follow: 5.9Km length, 2.2Km width and 0.67m depth. Hydraulic basin includes a total volume of 4.5 × 10 6 m 3 . This area is biodiversity rich with forest and wild-live and fishery productivity. An anthropogenic intervention has been done at the surround area in the last sixty years thus part of its boundaries and change chemical and bacteriological water lagoon characteristic were changed. Engineering intervention near at the Peonias shallow lagoon edge were built as the Caribbean speed way that it brought a block up of two nature channels placed at the northern landward and at the southern ward edge. One channel left to feed the lagoon called Araguato tidal-channel. Similarly a pollute discharge from runoff water located at the southern ward drags a sewage wastewater from part of northern urban area of Maracaibo into the Fenix and Iragorri streams with a flow rate varying between 375-750L/s. Other activities as piggeries farm, salty land and fisheries provided plenty organic matter within the shallow lagoon. Aim of this research is to identify the influence of tidal-level Araguato variation on the behavior of the nutrients and sediment in the shallow lagoon over two year period. Dry and wet climatology session to search the recovery power of lagoon itself was considered. The methodology was used by two methods: a) white column to determine the water and sludge level bathymetric and b) lab technique to determine liquid nutrients concentration and solid at the bottom layer on four samples. Physical parameters were determined and the samples were taken on 10 points. Results showed that the mean water level was 95cm and the sludge level was varying between ranges of 11 to 39cm at the Fenix stream. A total effective volume of 73% was calculated representing 27% of the total death volume found close to Fenix stream bottom layer. Nitrite liquid concentration range of 5.5 to 5.8 × 10 –3 mg/L flowed out away from the lagoon into the Tablazo Bay and nitrate concentration range varying from 1.3 to 1.5 × 10 –3 mg/L flowed out back to the lagoon from the Bay. Conclusion showed that the Peonias shallow lagoon still have a potential recovery itself due to wash out through the exchange tidal-Araguato channel.
