Objective: to translate to the Spanish the scale Patient Assessment of Upper Gastrointestinal Disorders-Symptom Severity Index (PAGI-SYM) and to collect preliminary data of confiability and validity. Method: the study was made with 136 healthy Spanish university students, to who the PAGI-SYM was applied to them. One evaluated the correlation of this scale with diverse measures of health and the Questionnaire on Quality of Associated Life to Dispepsia. Results: Scale PAGI-SYM presented/displayed an internal consistency of 0.87, was related of significant form to diverse measures of health and of quality of life and the factorial analysis established 6 factors, in correspondence with the study of the original scale in English. Conclusions: this preliminary study suggests it PAGI-SYM has a good internal consistency and convergent validity. New studies are required to research solid conclusions.
