A survey of the Colombian species of Ustilaginales is presented. Fourty species of smuts, representing 11 genera, are described; 18 species had already been reported for Colombia and 22 are registered for the first time. Of these, three are described as new. Information on germination is given; observations on hosts as well as descriptions of the syndromes for each disease are included, and a key to the species is provided.
