El proposito de este estudio fue aplicar herramientas estadisticas en la clasificacion de la relacion maxilo-mandibular clase I utilizando las variables del analisis de la radiografia cefalica lateral. La muestra estuvo conformada por un total 103 sujetos (51 hombres, 52 mujeres), entre los 18 y 29 anos de edad, pertenecientes a la poblacion estudiantil de la Universidad de Antioquia en Medellin, con relaciones oclusales molares y caninas bilaterales de clase I, sin apinamiento evidente y buen balance facial. Las medidas cefalometricas tenidas en cuenta se dividieron en dos grupos: medidas esqueleticas y medidas dentoalveolares. Posteriormente los datos fueron procesados y se realizaron los diferentes analisis estadisticos: univariado, bivariado y multivariado. Los resultados mostraron gran dispersion de los datos y por ende comportamiento heterogeneo de la muestra. ABSTRACT. The purpose of this study was to apply statistical tools in the classification of maxillary-mandibular class I relationship using the variables of the analysis of the lateral cephalic x-ray. The sample consisted of a total 103 subjects (51 men / 52 women), between the ages of 18 and 29 years, belonging to the student population of the University of Antioquia in Medellin, with bilateral molar and canine class I relationship, without evident crowding and good facial balance. The cephalometric measures used were divided in two groups: skeletal measures and dentoalveolar measures. The data was processed and the different statistical analyses were carried out: univariate, bivariate and multivariate. The results showed great dispersion of the data and hence a heterogeneous behavior of the sample.
