It is aknowledged that in the USA, Canada, Sweden, Norway and the United Kingdom, Social Work has been consolidated as a form of discipline. In this article, I propose to show that in important countries such as the United States and Canada, the debate about the place of the social intervention in the constitution of a scientific Social Work has existed and still exist, not only in an epistemological field, but also in the professional occupation, in my approach to this discussion. I outline the tendencies wich are the result of the analysis of literature in magazines focused on this specific subject.
