This study aimed to propose a model of competency-based educational event for achieving meaningful learning of students in the Engineering. The theoretical framework of the educational variable was based on the issues raised by Albornoz (2006), Roman (2010), Castejon and Navas (2009) and Escribano (2008). For meaningful learning took input from Mata (1998), Diaz y Hernandez (2009) y Villalobos (2003). Epistemologically enrolled in the positivist paradigm. The population consisted of 1312 students and 106 teachers. Data collection was performed using a questionnaire of 21 Likert scale questions and reliability of 0.935, using the Cronbach alpha coefficient. Information on significant learning was achieved by studying the GPA Coordination Teaching provided by the institution and as a result, teachers had to Engineering Project Mechanical Maintenance (PIMM) of Ciudad Ojeda based UNERMB employ a model of the educational supported in the exposure levels of inefficiency in terms of reflection and discussion therefore learning levels had significant inefficiency. It is necessary to implement the educational model proposed product of this work as a possible solution to the problem situation, which is to establish a compliance order of the phases that must be addressed by teachers to ensure meaningful learning.
