A estimation was made using data from the yield tests of lines and varieties, realized for the Section of Oleaginosas Anuales at the CNIA - Palmira (Colombia) from 1980-1991. The following variables were taken at harvested time: yield (kg/ha), plant height (beginning maturity), height of the first pod (cm) and lodging. Genetic gains average were 93.18 (3.4%) and 71.58 kg/ha) (2.9%) for semesters A and B respectively. This results indicate that all resources inverted in the search and obtainment of higth yield performance and adequate adaptability, have produced an additional economic revenue of 14.591.832 dollars, highest satisfactory, in only twelve years of Program activity.
