La primera parte de este trabajo, referida al cuento El rostro evanes- cente, de Miguel Falquez-Certain, indaga en la formas de lucha de una mujer que se resiste a sucumbir a la ley del parecer dentro de una sociedad victoriana en la que priman los prejuicios. Se analiza como ella escoge el ser frente a la hipocresia de una sociedad dominada por la autoridad de la paterna potestas. Este enfrentamiento se organiza en el cuento mediante dos discursos: el intimo o privado, voz revulsiva por tocar la intimidad del cuerpo y una forma de sexualidad no admitida por la sociedad, y el publico-social, voz de los medios tonos y el ocultamien- to. La segunda parte de este ensayo es un analisis del cuento La bailarina negra, de la narradora Freda Mosquera. Aqui se propone un analisis de las formas de degradacion a que es sometida una bailarina negra por la sociedad de consumo, pero al mismo tiempo, sus formas de lucha para no sucumbir en un mundo que busca degradar su identidad. Abstract The first part of this paper is about the short story El rostro evanescente by Miguel Falquez-Certain and deals with the ways a woman fights in order not to fall into the law of looks within a Victorian society in which prejudices prevail. It analyzes how the writer chooses the being in front of the hypocrisy of a society dominated by paternal authority (paterna potestas). This confrontation is organized in the story through two discourses: the intimate or private, repulsive voice for touching the intimacy of the body and a way of non-accepted sexuali- ty, and the public and social, voice of the mid-tones and hiding. The second part of this essay analyzes the short story La bailarina negra by Freda Mosquera. Here, I propose an analysis of the forms of degradation used on a black dancer by consumerism, but at the same time, her ways of fighting in order not to fall into a world that intends to degrade her identity.
