This study contributes to research on collaborative education through virtual social networks, examining how Twitter has been used in Business Management II class at Universidad Industrial de Santander (Colombia). The methodology process starts with a content analysis of tweets that have been published by faculty, students and guests at the Twitter account created in September 2012. Then, a quantitative analysis was done with information obtained from a survey of account users in order to establish their perception about this pedagogical tool. The main results show that despite the active participation of the 155 account followers, measured in terms of the 2189 tweets done until now, it appears that more than 80% of participations have not used the tool dialogically; on the contrary, this has been used to communicate information to general public. The account followers have a divided opinion about the usefulness of Twitter for collaborative work and student participation in the teaching-learning process.
