This article shows the relation between fashion and beauty that appeared in the fashion discourse in Medellin between 1930 and 1960, from a positive and modern point of view. Moreover, it shows the Catholic Church’s position evidencing its interest to restrict the modern ideas that begun to influence specially women in a society that debated between tradition and modernity. The main source for this article were articles and advertisements of newspapers and magazines published in Medellin between 1930 and 1960, like Letras y Encajes, Sabado, Raza, El Colombiano, El Heraldo de Antioquia, Gloria, Cromos, El Pueblo, El Heraldo Catolico and El Obrero Catolico. The technology resource used to analyze the articles was SATPI, designed by the Communication, journalism, and society group of Universidad de Antioquia .
