ObjecƟ ve: Determine eff ecƟ veness of radiotherapy vs radiotherapy-chemotherapy in paƟ ents with locally advanced cervical cancer. Barranquilla (Colombia). Materials and Methods: ComparaƟ ve analyƟ cal study conducted in paƟ ents diagnosed with locally advanced cervical cancer in two private hospitals of Barranquilla, using simple sampling Epidat, a signifi cant sample of 50 paƟ ents per group was considered. Radiotherapy Group (RT): RadiaƟ on therapy in the range of 50 Gy for 5 weeks; Radiotherapy-Chemotherapy Group (RT-CT): radiaƟ on in the range of 50 Gy for 5 weeks + cisplaƟ n 40 mg/m² / week for 6 weeks. Epi-Info 3.5.1 was used to tabulate. Signifi cance level was <0.05. Results: PaƟ ents of 51 years old or more were more frequent in the two study groups, in the RT group, the average age at onset of sexual acƟ vity was 18.1 ± 3.6 years; in the RT-CT group, the average was 17.1 ± 2.6 years, 52% in the RT group and 54 % in the RT-CT group reported more than 3 sexual partners. Complete response to therapy was more frequent in the RT-CT paƟ ents (28 %) compared with 14 % in the RT (value p = 0.08), adverse events were more frequent in the RT-CT group (90 %, p = 0.001). Conclusion: No signifi cant diff erence was found in effi cacy between radiotherapy and radiotherapy-chemotherapy used in paƟ ents with locally advanced cervical cancer.
