The results of a study done with dancers from the city of Manizales are presented in this article. The objective of the study was to discover the sense or meaning of corporeality/motor skills in dance and it is relationship to the community. The project was based on the complementary approach put forth by Murcia and Jaramillo, backed by Schutz´s social-hermeneutic phenomenology and social imaginaries as support theory. The design featured three stages. The first involved an approach to reality, which is defined as a scheme of social intelligibility; the second defined the plan for gathering information and delving into each of the categories of the scheme, using the actors themselves as the crux; while the third focused on constructing the sense or meaning through triangulation of the information. The results highlight the fact that dance articulates the corporeality/motor skill technique in a symphony of recognition of others and oneself.
