This article establishes the general concepts for the technological infrastructure of a television channel with open broadcasting or virtual transmission through data networks using standard industry configurations and accepted regulations as a reference point to implement audio and video systems that make it possible to define, design, implement, operate and maintain said infrastructure. One of the first results that was obtained was the making of the proposal for the aspects to be considered in the design of a television channel. These correspond to the steps to determine production centers characteristics, the criteria for production modules and configuration trends for the modules. This outcome was reached through the initial study into the technological field for the Universidad Libre Virtual channel or ULCV (Universidad Libre Canal Virtual) research project complemented with practical work and accumulated experience in the field. Additionally, a complete proposal was made for the ULCV technological infrastructure design as a result of the research process into the engineering field. It included the application of knowledge, the design steps and the criteria and trends set forth and explained here. As a complement to the aforementioned, some generalities are described and these are the base for the work on the ULCV production center design as well as the fundamental principals for television systems under NTSC (National Television System Committee) standards including the latest concepts such as digitalization and digital video transmission etc.
