The communicative abilities of 20 old persons were evaluated in a geriatric household of Santafe de Bogota. The investigation included audilologic and communicative evaluation, and aural rehabilitation. 18 of 20 elderly presented hearing loss with various degrees of severity, significant indicative of its high incidence in the geriatric population, 70% of the subjects presented some class of hearing handicap in the ranges of mild to severe. In the communicative evaluation, 70% of the individuals conversed with less fluency and needed constant clarification. The conclusions derived from this investigation are directed to audiologists and to professional commissioned to care and welfare the elderly.
