Un Modelo de Intervención Para la Hotelería No Formal Como Actor Para la Competitividad y Sostenibilidad Del Destino Turístico (An Intervention Model for the Non Formal Hotel as an Actor for Competitiveness and Sustainability of Tourist Destination) (in Spanish)
The growing supply of non-formal accommodation in major domestic destinations results in a deterioration of the quality and sustainability of tourism products in response to its offer is not controlled or organized. This article presents some reflections on this kind of offer as part of a destination and its tourism product, but in some cases showing negative impacts on sustainability and quality of tourist territory. The tourism market that prefers on the formal, in this type of accommodation offer very attractive rates not only more beneficial if not for the flexibility that often corresponds to the absence of rules of coexistence. But this market is aware of the limitations provided by this type of accommodation and recognizes the superior service and security that gives the conventional hotel. The economic impact of this practice has been significant in local economies and government revenues foregone tax important in view of the informality with which this service is provided. The solution provided in this article deals with the integration of this offer to the productive chain of the tourism sector to ensure the sustainability of the destination, by adopting a clear, formal inclusion of this offer to providers tourist services subject to prior adoption of best practices and legal organization of these informal providers freedom of choice in the market. Article is generated from the “Study of parallel hotels in Santa Marta Tourism District: Proposal for an intervention model” developed in August 2010, however, is not intended to presenting it as a case study but to continue with reflections on the contribution to the destination of this group of tourist suppliers and the description of the intervention model to generate synergies in the territory after its formal action under the principles of quality and sustainability.
