The lower Cretaceous Yavi, Caballos, and Hondita Formations have been recently studied. Although these studies furnish valuable information, they are controversial. In this paper we tackle the existing discrepancies in correlation and stratigraphic nomenclature. The abandonement of recently proposed units is recommended and attention is called towards the original definitions, according to standard stratigraphic regulations. In addition, biostratigraphical differences have been identified and discussed. They are ascribed to the poorly known ranges of the fossils reported.
