Objective: To describe the family coping strategies with the divorce as a non-normative crisis. Materials and method: Descriptive study, with an intentional selection of a sample of 43 families with teenagers’ children. The instrument was the F-COPES scale (FamilyCrisis Oriented Personal Evaluation Scale) from McCubbin, Larsen y Olson. Results: It was a familial tendency to use the social support as the main coping strategy in a moment of crisis, followed by Reframing. The least used strategy was Mobilizing the family to accept help, followed by the passive appraisal and spiritual support.
