Within the framework of the current discussion and review of the University Education Law [LEU (for its acronym in Spanish), 2010], and due to the need to retake the dialogue within the university to discuss the construction of a University Law, we propose to carry out a revision from the philosophy of education point of view, analyzing the following: its epistemological consistency, teleology, axiology, gnoseology and judicial logic. Our paper pretends to have a critical view on the LEU, avoiding the sterile political polarization bias, since our critical view will be based on the critical pedagogy categories (Giroux). This paper responds to a line of research developed about 10 years ago, based on the notion that an epistemological watch should not be solely based on a pivotal timeframe, but rather be a permanent reason for university professors. The raison d’etre of the university should be the essence that determines its existence; if we do not defend it, the university will cease to be the center where knowledge, alterity and diverse thought are produced.
