The Jatropha curcas L. seeds are treated physically to obtain smaller sizes shell free. The seeds are chemically extracted in a Soxhlet equipment using different solvents. The amount of oil extracted was maximized by the modifying of solvent, the particle size and the extraction time. The oil-hexane mixture obtained was purified by a simple distillation. The result shows that the optimal solvent is the hexane, with an oil extraction yield of 91% with a particle size of 0.5 mm. The extraction kinetic indicates that the contact optimal time is around 40 hours. The extracted oil fulfils quality requirements. The oil extraction plant simulation for one ton per hour of seeds, including the experimental sludge curve and solvent separation by a flash, indicates is possible obtain 97% purity oil.
