The data used in this study were taken of the database of the regional autonomous corporation of Boyaca - Corpoboyaca, among the years 2004 and 2008.They registered 398 individuals of wild fauna that were retention object for Corpoboyaca. The group with more frequency of retentions was the birds with58%, continued by reptiles with 26% and in third place mammals 16% of the data. The three main cities of the department report the highest frequencies infauna retentions, one also observes that the you take care of Puerto Boyaca it also registers a great number of retentions. The families more affected inside the three big mentioned groups they correspond the Order of the Psitaciformes, Primates and Testudineos. These groups deserve main attention for their highindexes of traffic and illegal holding. It is recommended besides implementing conservation plans with these groups, to undertake activities of environmental education guided to the sustainable use of the fauna in general.
