In Quindio projects are being advanced intensive livestock barns greenhouse type, in order to exploit efficiently very small tracts of land for exploitation of cattle. The farming system that has prevailed in the region is extensive grazing with few animals per unit area and low production yields, which leads to poor land use, high environmental degradation, causing problems of erosion, compaction and imbalance nutrients together with high deforestation.
