The research presented a clinical-epidemiological study of bacterial meningo-encephalitis in the Pediatric Hospital of Holguin in the period from January 2008 to December 2009. 13 patients were diagnosed at admission, final diagnosis was 11 patients. The most affected age group was found to be up to four years and reported a greater number of cases in the first semester for both years. Frequent clinical manifestations were found to be fever, stiff neck, irritability and impaired consciousness. We quantified the number of patients increased cellularity above 1000x106/L. in the case of over 50% of patients, bacterial forms were observed in the Gram. Streptococcus pneumoniae was the predominant germ. In 2008 20% of the patients died and 40% had sequels, in 2009 33.4% of the patients died and no sequels were reported.
