Superpopulation models are becoming more and more accepted. The deduction of traditional tests from those models enriches the theoretical value of this trend of statistical inference. In this essay, the sign test is deduced with a superpopulation model. Our purpose is to extend the sign test to a broader number of cases, when the researcher has additional information available about the study units. The elements of the model are defined and general expressions are developed allowing the easy deduction of the test as well its generalization.
